MCPASD Elementary Teacher, Students To Take Part In Digital Learning Day | Schools
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
West Middleton Elementary teacher Pernille Ripp and her fifth-grade students will be one of eight school districts participating in a statewide virtual showcase of exemplary uses of technology in education with State Superintendent Tony Evers as part of the state’s observation of the first Digital Learning Day Showcase on Wednesday.
Ripp’s students blog regularly with students around the world, and will have a six-minute presentation.
Ripp and her students will demonstrate their blog project using the webinar software and their web camera. The students will show their blog, talk about how they blog, and share some of their experiences, including discussions they had with students in Cairo during last year's revolution.
As part of a national effort to celebrate and highlight practices that make learning more personalized and engaging for students, Evers proclaimed Feb. 1 as Digital Learning Day. The event is available online at http://tinyurl.com/WIDLD.
The schools participating in the showcase are:
- Algoma -- Advanced placement chemistry: You can do that online?
- Hudson -- Keyboard composition project
- Janesville – Moving to a new vision using blended learning
- Menasha – Menasha Digital Learning Day 2012
- Oconomowoc -- Game-based curriculum
- Sun Prairie – Students use electronic devises in class!

More than 1.7 million students are expected to participate in Digital Learning Day, which is sponsored by the Alliance for Excellent Education.
