Library Hosts Meet The Author Night

Kathleen Ernst, the author of "Old World Murder: a Chloe Ellefson Mystery" as well as numerous books for children, will give an informal talk at the Middleton Public Library on Wednesday, March 9, at 7 p.m.

Kathleen will share how the book came to be, what's in store for her heroine next and answer questions about creating a mystery series. 

Participants can also discuss the book together and enjoy light refreshments courtesy of the Friends of the Middleton Library.

Forum To Discuss Emerald Ash Borer Threat In Middleton

The damage and concern in the Midwest surrounding the Emerald Ash Borer is well-documented, and on Thursday, a discussion will be held at the Middleton Public Library to talk about what steps the city of Middleton is taking to protect the city's ash trees.

City Forester/Horticulturist Mark Wegner will provide information on the bug, it's preferred meal of choice, what Middleton is planning to do and what you as a homeowner or concerned citizen can do as well as part of the Green Thursday series at the Middleton Public Library.

Information for potential replacement trees will also be discussed. All questions related to Middleton's Urban Forest can be addressed as well, if desired. Please attend and get the get the facts straight from the front line.

Storm Causes Area Event, Church Cancellations

A powerful winter storm is bearing down on southern Wisconsin, dumping several inches of snow.

With the snow expected to continue through Sunday evening, many area businesses have announced plans to close while various events and churches are calling off scheduled services for Sunday.

Various cities, villages and towns have also declared snow emergencies.

FOPB Photo Competition Winners Reception this Friday

The Friends of Pheasant Branch Conservancy will be holding its first annual winners art exhibit and sale Friday, Dec. 3 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at competition sponsor Middleton Art and Framing located at 6921 University Avenue in Middleton.  

Please join us for light refreshments and to meet the artists.

The exhibit will feature all winning photos from the 2010 Friends of Pheasant Branch photo competition and one art piece from the competition judging panel. 

The grand prize image was submitted by Michael Knapstein.  Competition sponsor Picture Salon provided the funds for the grand prize and Youth Category winner ribbons.  The photographic images will be exhibited and for sale until Dec. 31.

Origami Mural To Be Dedicated At Middleton Public Library

The public is invited to attend the Middleton Public Library Dedication Event for the origami mural title, "Dimentions." 

The event will be on Thursday, Dec. 2 at 6:30 p.m. The mural is the creation from many hands of hundreds of community members who folded more than 3,000 models. 

The models were completed at free workshops offered at the library and have now been assembled into one spectacular exhibit. 

The origami mural will be on permanent display behind the library's main level circulation desk.

There will be a short presentation and recognition of the participants and sponsors on the Main Level of the Library, followed by a chance to meet the artists.

Holiday Book Sale Fundraiser To Benefit Middleton Public Library

The November book sale at the Middleton Public Library is the annual holiday sale which includes children's books, cookbooks, craft books, holiday mysteries and special value books.  Everything is in excellent to good condition with modest prices.

The annual Holiday Book Sale is Saturday and Sunday. 

  • Saturday, 10:00-11:00 a.m. friends of the library members only (memberships can be purchased at the door)
  • Saturday, 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Open to everyone
  • Sunday, 1:30-4:00 p.m. Open to everyone

 

 

 

Big Pile Of Free Mulch Available At Greenway Station

2nd Season Recycling donated a heap of compost for the recent Middleton Clean & Green event. Much of the compost was taken during the event, but there is still a huge pile leftover!

The compost is located in a field near the 'T' intersection of Market Street and Aspen Commons in Greenway Station.

Anyone and everyone is invited to come and take as much mulch as you want, until the pile is gone.
