Police: Woman on heroin arrested in retail thefts | News

Madison police said they arrested a woman who admitted to using heroin before stealing items from stores at West Towne Mall.
Officers arrested Kaitlin McGarrity, 25, of Middleton, on retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia charges, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.
Police said McGarrity is also facing a probation violation.
Security officials spotted McGarrity taking a $150 pair of jeans and a $30 pair of shoes from Kohl's about 4:30 p.m. Sunday, according to police.
Officers said they believed she was trying to get to a parked car where her boyfriend, Kurt Maier, 27, of Madison, was waiting.
Police said they found needles, drug paraphernalia and numerous articles of clothing with sales tags still attached in the car. Officers also recovered jewelry and electronics, according to the police report.
Police said McGarrity admitted to using heroin before her arrest.
Police said they also arrested Maier on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, bail jumping and casual possession of marijuana.�
