The girls? soccer sectional semifinals on Thursday brought a heated game between Middleton and Waunakee High Schools.
The Division 1 teams played at Waunakee, where the Warriors have been dominant all season. They proved their intensity once again by attacking their opponents from the start of the game.
The Warriors had nine shots on goal, but Middleton goalie Meghan Ledin stopped the scoring each time.
After 100 scoreless minutes, the Warriors got a penalty shot. But, Ledin continued her hot play and stopped Molly Laugenberg?s attempt at a goal.
Middleton, which had no shots on goal all game, won the sectional semifinal in penalty kicks with a score of 3-1.
Middleton will face Madison West on Saturday night in Waunakee.
West won in Verona on Thursday with a score of 1-0.
In Division 2, Madison Edgewood defeated Lodi in penalty kicks.
Mount Horeb advanced to play the Crusaders after they beat Belleville/New Glarus 6-2.
In Division 3, Columbus played Aquinas. The Blugold?s Kaitlin Healy scored in the 49th minute, having the Aquinas go on to end Columbus? season with a 1-0 win in La Crosse.�
