Middleton Police Crack Down On Unruly Behavior At Quarry Skate Park

Now that spring is upon us, the city of Middleton Parks Department will again be full of people taking advantage of the recreational opportunities that the parks have to offer, but it is also asking for vigilance from park users.

Over the past couple of years, police said they have seen an increase in problems at Quarry Skate Park.

Some of the issues we have dealt with at the park include littering, graffiti, smoking and occasionally alcohol and drug use, police said.

This spring, officers are making an extra effort to reduce the number of issues at the park to make it an enjoyable experience for all who use it.

Middleton Store Targeted By Quick-Change Artist

A quick-change artist scammed nearly $100 dollars from a Middleton store on Tuesday, March 29, according to the Middleton Police Department.

Police said the store, on Cayuga Street, reported the money was missing at about 6:30 p.m.

The black man was in his 40s and about 5 feet 8 inches tall, police said. They said he was last seen wearing sunglasses and a wool hat. He was seen leaving in a gray Pontiac Grand Am.

Graffiti Concerns Underneath Bridge Near Greenway Station

Middleton police responded to a call of graffiti underneath the Market Street Bridge on Friday, April 1.

Police said the bridge, located in the 8500 block of Market Street 'extensive graffiti.'

The area is located near the northeast corner of Greenway Station.

Dead Deer Left In Woman's Front Yard

A Middleton woman found a dead deer in the front yard of her home on Monday morning, according to the Middleton Police Department.

Police officers were called to the 5300 block of Indigo Way at about 8:45 a.m.

The woman told police that she had complained about some boys in the neighborhood a couple of days earlier, but she wasn't sure if that had anything to do with it.

The woman contacted the Department of Natural Resources to pick up the deer.

Middleton Woman Burglarized While She Was Sleeping

A Middleton woman was awakened on Thursday morning to discover that her home had been entered and burglarized, according to the Middleton Police Department.

Police said the burglars entered the home after the woman's husband had left for work at 6 a.m. Police said that the men likely entered through the garage. 

The burglars took a flat screen TV, cash, a phone, a flip camera and a wallet. Shortly after the burglary, the victim’s credit card was used at two nearby businesses in Madison. Images of the men and their car were captured by surveillance cameras.

A similar burglary was reported on Pauline Avenue in Madison at 5:25 a.m. on Madison's West Side.

Police Arrest 2 In Connection With Middleton Armed Robbery

Two people were arrested in connection with Monday's armed robbery at a Century Avenue convenience store, according to the Middleton Police Department.

Police said Rebecca A. Reese, 21, of Middleton, held up the PDQ store in the 6500 block of Century Avenue in Middleton just after 12:30 a.m. Reese faces a charge of armed robbery, and Lanessa L. Lattimore, 21, of Middleton, faces a charge of being party to an armed robbery.

Police said a Reese entered the store and went to the counter to make a purchase. When the clerk opened the register, the woman showed a black handgun and demanded money. She then left eastbound through the parking lot, they said

Disturbance, Drive-By Shooting Linked In Middleton

A drive-by shooting and a disturbance at a Middleton sports bar and nightclub early Friday morning are connected, according to the Middleton Police Department.

Police said at about 1:45 a.m. there was a significant disturbance in the parking lot of Scatz Sports Bar & Nightclub at 2248 Deming Way.

A man was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, police said. A woman involved in the disturbance faces a disorderly conduct charge, police said. An officer received a minor injury after being punched in the head while arresting the man, who police said was resisting. 

A short time later, witnesses told police that occupants of a vehicle heading southbound on Deming Way at University Avenue fired six shots at another vehicle, striking it five times. Both vehicles left the area, police said.
