Middleton Man Indicted Of Gun Charges

Joshua Allen Schaaf, 25, of Middleton, is charged with being a felon in possession of three firearms, according to Department of Justice officials.

The indictment accused Schaaf of being in possession of a .38 caliber revolver and two .380 caliber pistols, according to court officials.

If convicted, Schaaf faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison.

The charge against him is the result of an investigation by the Dane County Sheriff's Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, officials said.

Gold Rolex Watch Purchased From Middleton Jeweler With Stolen Credit Card

A Middleton jewelry store has been notified by the Madison Police Department that an 18k gold pre-owned Rolex watch was purchased with a stolen credit card.

Chalmer's Jewelry contacted Middleton police on Sept. 7 after being told the credit card had been stolen in Madison and used at the University Avenue store.

The watch is valued at $10,500, police said.

Middleton Woman Arrested On OWI, Drug Charges

A 25-year-old Middleton woman was arrested Monday night on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence after witnesses said she went unconscious behind the wheel while driving a pickup truck, according to the Madison Police Department.

Police said the truck, driven by Kristine M. Kapica-Morris, veered off of the road and into a curb in the 800 block of North Stoughton Road at about 11 p.m.

The officer said heroin and cocaine were found in the cab, as well as syringes and other drug paraphernalia

Kapica-Morris was taken to the Dane County Jail, where she also faces charges of possession of heroin and cocaine and a probation violation, police said.

Middleton To Host National Night Out On Wednesday

Families are invited to attend the 2011 Middleton National Night Out at Lakeview Park on Wednesday, Aug. 3 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

National Night Out is an opportunity for communities nationwide to promote police-community partnerships, crime prevention and neighborhood camaraderie.

This year’s festivities will include free food, door prizes, DJ, children’s games/activities, a VIP dunk tank and participation by our Fire Department, EMS, Police Department and

other local law enforcement agencies including K-9 and mounted (horse) patrols.

MedFlight and DEA helicopters have also been invited. Citizens will be able to tour the squad cars, fire apparatus and ambulance and have a chance to meet and talk to officers, paramedics and firefighters.

Police Investigate Suspicious Incident Near Middleton Middle School

A 13-year-old girl walking to Kromrey Middle School on Tuesday morning was grabbed by the shoulders and pushed up against a van by two men, according to Middleton police.

Police officers said the incident happened at about 7:45 a.m. near Parkside Heights Park. They said the girl noticed two men getting out of a van parked on the street. The men asked her for money, police said.

The older of the two men grabbed then her by the shoulders and pushed her against the van. The younger man tried to open the passenger-side rear door of the van, but was unsuccessful, police said.

Police said that the girl was able to break free and run away. She said as she was running she could hear the two men laughing.

The younger man was black and in his 20s. He was about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a slender build and  no facial hair.

Middleton Teenager Admits To Writing Threat On Bathroom Wall

A 15-year-old Middleton High School student admitted to writing a message on a mirror in a bathroom, according to the Middleton Police Department.

Police said the message included the word bomb, but was not specific about a location or time.

The message was found about 11:15 a.m., according to school officials. The school was quickly placed on lockdown so staff could look for any suspicious items, police said. They said no items were found.

Police said the teen faces a charge of creating a bomb scare. He was released to the custody of his parents.

The case will be referred to juvenile authorities, police said.
