Man arrested for 7th-offense OWI asked officer for directions | Crime
A Neenah man was arrested for seventh-offense operating while intoxicated after asking a police officer for directions to “go north,” officials said.
Donald J. Gabryshak, 48, approached an officer and asked for directions Wednesday around 9:40 p.m., according to a release.
The officer noticed Gabryshak’s eyes were bloodshot and his speech was slurred, officials said. Gabryshak drove away before the officer was able to investigate further, but the officer followed him.
As the officer followed him, Gabryshak stopped in the middle of the road for no apparent reason, according to the release.
Gabryshak failed field sobriety tests when the officers stopped him, police said. He told police he had not been drinking or taking any drugs.
According to the release, Gabryshak told police he had taken protein powder, pain medication and wasn’t sure what other medication he may have taken.
Gabryshak was arrested for seventh-offense OWI and was taken to the Dane County Jail.
