Middleton Business To Host Free Self-Defense Class For Women

Kicks Unlimited Middleton will hold a free women's self defense seminar from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sept. 17 at its Parmenter Street location.

The event will benefit Domestic Abuse Intervention Services, a Dane County based domestic violence prevention organization that provides services including the county's only domestic violence safe house, children's programs, support groups and crisis response assistance.

Attendees are encouraged to make a donation at the event to support these vital domestic violence prevention programs. Participants will learn simple basic steps that can save their lives, eliminate threatening situations by using their body to protect themselves.

This event is part of the continued effort by Kicks Unlimited Middleton to be a strong local community partner, company officials said.

Gold Rolex Watch Purchased From Middleton Jeweler With Stolen Credit Card

A Middleton jewelry store has been notified by the Madison Police Department that an 18k gold pre-owned Rolex watch was purchased with a stolen credit card.

Chalmer's Jewelry contacted Middleton police on Sept. 7 after being told the credit card had been stolen in Madison and used at the University Avenue store.

The watch is valued at $10,500, police said.

Downtown Middleton To Host Wine Walk On Sept. 21

The Downtown Middleton Business Association will host a Second Wine Walk on Wednesday, Sept. 21, from 5 to 8 p.m.

The DMBA's Spring Wine Walk was such a fun evening, organizers said they brought it back by popular demand.

Guests will start the evening at the M&I Middleton where you will receive a wine glass and a list of wines that will be featured at each location. Each guest will then plan their adventure, proceeding to each business as desired, enjoy tasting one ounce of a red wine, one ounce of a white wine and some delicious appetizers.

There will be 12 participating businesses that include: Bloom Bake Shop, M&I Middleton, Villa Dolce, Camelot Interiors, National Mustard Museum, Neena Apparel, Chauette, Sofra Family Bistro, Diny’s Jewelers, Isthmus Eye Care, Sam Simon Real Estate and BodyFit Solutions.

Several of the businesses will also be offering specials for the Wine Walk. 

Only 200 tickets will be sold at $20 each.

Online Auction To Benefit Dane Buy Local

An online auction is being held later this month in which all proceeds will benefit the nonprofit organization Dane Buy Local.

The mission of Dane Buy Local is to support local businesses within the community while raising awareness of the importance of buying locally.

DANE Exclusive Deals will use Facebook and SMS text message tools to host a Bid-A-Thon, an online auction, Sept. 24-30.

Participants will have the opportunity to bid on more than 250 gift cards and prizes from various local businesses. Bidders will be able to track bidding activity on items through text alerts right to their phone. This can be done from any mobile phone with premium text message capabilities. Infinity Martial Arts To Open New Studio In Middleton

Infinity Martial Arts has announced the opening of their new facility in Middleton.

The new location will be at 8233 Forsythia St.

Mike Welch, owner of Infinity Martial Arts said, "Our new space more than doubles our space in size. Combine this with our extensive confidence building programs for youth and adults and we will be providing our students the ultimate martial arts training experience in the Middleton and Madison areas."

The new 6,100 square foot space contains larger floor space to maximize class times and improve student to instructor ratios. 

The new property will also offer more parking, a private training room and showers for our adult and fitness students.

Infinity Martial Arts will be celebrating their new location with  a grand opening event on Sept. 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The family fun event will include live demonstrations and the opportunity to get some hands-on experience.

New Bison-Only Restaurant To Open In Greenway Station

A new, innovative restaurant will be serving up bison this fall at Middleton's Greenway Station. 

Bison Jack's will serve bison dogs, bratwursts and burgers. The restaurant will open in 2,400 square feet and be located in between Cosi and Starbuck’s.

The restaurant is scheduled to open this October and will provide a seventh dining option at Greenway Station. The fast-casual restaurant will seat 70 people and be open seven days a week. 

Bison Jack's is designed and operated by Vision 360 Design, of Dallas, Tex. 

"The camaraderie among the restaurant industry in Madison is inspiring," said Shaun Horne in a news release. "The food scene is amazing and I'm looking forward to joining that scene and adding a new twist!"
