Online Auction Supporting Local Businesses Is Under Way | Business

Organizers said that an online auction selling local goods to benefit the nonprofit organization Dane Buy Local is off to a successful start.

Dane Buy Local said the hyper-local project uses technology and social media to support the common message of buying and supporting local business.

DANE Exclusive Deals is using Facebook and SMS text message tools to host a Bid-A-Thon, an online auction, which is happening now and will end on Sept. 30 at 5 p.m.

Participants can bid on over 250 gift cards and prizes from various local businesses.

Bidders will be able to track bidding activity on items through text alerts right to their phones. For more information, text AUCTION to 30364.

All funds raised will benefit Dane Buy Local. The mission of Dane Buy Local is to support local businesses within the community while raising awareness of the importance of buying locally.
