Police: Man uses car seat to steal liquor

Police asked for help identifying a man and woman pictured in five surveillance images the department released Friday. Police said the man used an infant car seat to take alcohol from an area gas station.

The Middleton Police Department said officers are trying to locate the vehicle or the pair pictured in connection with two recent retail thefts.

The five images show a man and woman exiting a silver or gray vehicle. The man is carrying a baby's car seat with a blanket draped over it and the woman is carrying a tan handbag.

Sgt. Don Mueller said the man and woman are suspected of stealing multiple bottles of liquor from the Kelly Mobil gas station on University Green Thursday night.

Mueller said according to the report, at about 8 p.m. the man put bottles of liquor in the infant carrier and the woman put bottles in her bag and neither paid for the alcohol.

The two are also suspected in a theft of liquor on March 20 from Good Neighbor Liquor on Parmenter Street at 7:52 p.m.

In the images, the woman appears to be black, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and pink shoes. The man appears to be black, wearing a red sweatshirt, jeans, dark shoes and a black and white baseball cap.

Police asked anyone with information about the people or the car pictured to call or text 608-824-7300. Callers can also leave a message on the Middleton police tipster line at 608-824-7304.
