Orchestra to bring ‘British’ at upcoming concert | Arts & Culture
The Middleton Community Orchestra will present “The British are Coming” to the Middleton Arts Center on Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $10 and students are admitted free of charge.
The concert will feature great symphonic works by England’s most renowned composers.
In addition to fiery excerpts from “The Planets” by English composer Gustav Holst, MCO Conductor Steve Kurr will lead the orchestra in live performances of works by George Frederic Handel and Edward Elgar.
Vaughn Williams' violin masterpiece, “The Lark Ascending,” will also be performed, led by the recently appointed Madison Symphony Orchestra Concertmaster Naha Greenholtz and Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Principal Clarinetist and MCO Guest Conductor, Kyle Knox.
Greenholtz and Knox, a husband and wife team, join the Middleton Community Orchestra as part of the group’s “Rising Stars” initiative, which brings talented young musicians with strong ties to the Greater Middleton Area to perform as guest artists with the MCO.
The performance will mark the MCO’s launch of its 2012-13 season.
