Company hosts 6th art show, auction for charity | Arts & Culture
A local food-service company will host its sixth annual art show and sale to benefit a local food pantry.
Food Concepts Inc. will hold its sixth annual FCI Art Show and Auction to benefit the Middleton Outreach Ministry on Thursday from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at FCI, 2551 Parmenter St., Middleton.
Brad Duesler, CEO of Food Concepts, said the event will showcase more than 300 pieces of art ranging from paintings, photography, ceramics, jewelry, glass and more.
Each year FCI selects an artist to feature at the event. The 2013 artist is Mike Bass, who specializes in block-style prints with local themes such as a series of Madison-area lake prints with historical text and graphic images as well as a colorful series of farmer’s market posters with excellent use of typography. You can view Mike’s work at Zip-Dang.com.
Duesler said another artist and University of Wisconsin-Madison professor, Carol Roso, donated more than 50 of her original paintings to the cause. Roso painted the watercolor and acrylic pieces, which feature Wisconsin and Arizona landscapes, over her lifetime.
MOM director Al Ripp said the FCI Art Show is one of the organization’s biggest fundraisers and provides funds to help the community in multiple programs including the food pantry, clothing closet and assistance with rent and utilities.
“About 46 percent of the people who utilized our services are kids,” Ripp said. “You’re helping the people in need and supporting the community, and that’s what it’s truly all about.”
The show will also feature light hors d’oeuvres, beverages, and music by the Huotari Brothers Band. There is no cost to attend. Visit fciartshow.com for more information.
