A motorist's car was struck by another motorist in traffic and then he was attacked in a road rage incident during Tuesday morning's commute, according to the Middleton Police Department.

Police said Theodore H. Melchert, 40, of Poynette, became angry about the driving of another motorist, followed the car east on U.S. Highway 12, and cut in front of the car deliberately striking the car's front quarter panel. The victim lost control of his car and spun out between Parmenter Street and Airport Road. Police said the victim's car came to rest facing the other direction of traffic.
