German Exchange Orchestra Concert Set For Sunday

The Middleton High School Orchestra is hosting the Youth Symphony Orchestra from Coesfeld, Germany, this weekend. The ensemble consists of about 65 students between the ages of 14 and 22. 

The two orchestras will perform a joint concert on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center.

The orchestras will perform the Franz Schubert "Unfinished" Symphony, a Beethoven Romance for violin and orchestra and the "New World" Symphony by Antonin Dvorak. 

The concert is free and open to the public.

Small Change Personal Training Hosts Open House

A ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house are set for Small Change Personal Training at 8401 Greenway Boulevard in Middleton.

The open house will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday with the ribbon cutting at 5:30 p.m.

Light snacks and beverages will be served and make sure that you bring a business card for a drawing to win a special personal training package.

Middleton Outlasts Memorial To Earn Big Conference Victory

A pivotal game in the Big 8 Conference saw Middleton run away with a convincing win in the second half. The Cardinals topped Madison Memorial 42-18 at Breitenbach Stadium. The Cardinals improved to 6-1 and dropped the Spartans to 5-3 on the season.

Adding to the fun was the homecoming festivities this weekend at Middleton High School

Memorial's Joe Ferguson tried to spoil the party early with a nice pump fake, setting up a 47-yard touchdown pass to Jamar Morris. That put the Spartans up 6-0 in the first quarter.

New Clothing Shop To Celebrate Grand Opening

A grand opening and ribbon cutting will be held at Chauette on Wednesday.

The store, specializing in unique gifts and clothing for women and children is now open in downtown Middleton at 7466 Hubbard Avenue, next to Louisianne's/ETC.

The special grand opening event is set for Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The store will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and offer cool fashions, great giveaways and refreshments.

This will be the second Chauette location. The first is in the Paoli Schoolhouse and Shops Cafe in Belleville.

Haunted Hustle To Impact Parking In Middleton

The city of Middleton has announced that the following areas will be designated "No Parking" from 2 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30.  The parking prohibition is being placed into effect to facilitate the running of the Haunted Hustle Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K run. 

28-Year-Old Cited For Providing Alcohol To Minors

Middleton police said a 28-year-old man was cited for providing alcohol to minors.

Police were called to what they said was an underage drinking party at the Lagoon Apartments on N. Gammon Road on Saturday at about 5:30 a.m.

Police were tipped off by a caller, who said he was over 21 years of age, but others who were attending a party he just left, were not.

Report: Raven Software Lays Off Second Round Of Employees

A second round of layoffs is causing 40 employees to lose their jobs at the area's top video game developer, according to a radio report.

WTDY Radio is reporting the layoffs are hitting Raven Software in Madison. With the company currently between major projects, inside sources told the radio station that between one-quarter and one-third of Raven's Madison-area employees have been let go.

Officials with Activision, Raven Software's parent company, said that Raven is being re-aligned. Among this week's layoffs is reportedly the very first programmer hired by the two brothers who founded the company 20 years ago, accordign to the broadcast report.

The company is known nationally for producing titles like "Wolfenstein" and "Singularity."
